Our Story

Meet The Awardees of 2024

Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship & Karmaveer Awards

iCONGO instituted  the Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship and Karmaveer Awards in partnership with UN  to specially honour and award lesser known unsung, uncommon, unheard ordinary heroes from around the globe, who are championing change in our world with their extraordinary deeds. A lesser-known fact is that the inspiring story of ‘Dashrath Manjhi’ was first discovered by Jerry when he launched the joy of giving movement in 2003.

Manjhi inspired Jerry to create and institute the Karmaveer Awards to recognise Ordinary Real heroes and tell their true stories in the Karma Kurry book series. Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship has recognised people from around the world and is now creating communities with specific thematic fellowships like HR, CSR, CIOs, Teachers, Lawyers, Youth, and Education Change Champions (which includes School Owners, Principals, Teachers, Parents and Students) from schools across India. The awards are given every year on 26/11 (the day Indian Constitution was adopted in Parliament in 1949), which we have promoted as the Citizen Action for Social Justice Day from 2002 and now has been adopted by Government as the Constitution Day from 2015.

The Karmaveer awards were inspired by Mr. Dashrath Manjhi (The mountain man, who Jerry had the privilege of meeting in 2003, when while  launching of The Joy Of Giving movement) and instituted by International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) in partnership with United Nations (UN). Over the past 2 plus decades, RKGF has felicitated several global citizens for championing change by addressing social causes and changing mindsets with their deeds and alternative ideas for action.

The Color Positive and RKGF awards were conceived in 2024 for celebrating and exclusively including the hero’s from LGBTQIA ++ community and to honour their work and stories.  Color Positive Foundation's founder and director, Mr. Savio Linus Mascarenhas was awarded the Blue, Bronze and Silver Medal for his contribution towards the LGBTQIA+ community since 2016. After he received the Bronze Medal, with the guidance of Jerry Almeida and Eitu V Chopra, began awarding the heroes from the LGBTQIA+ community since 2024.

Nineteen Blue medals were given to those we recognize for their support and contribution given to the community. The year 2025 will host 25 such awards for new members who have left no leaf unturned.

The Rex Karmaveer Global Fellows and Karmaveer award recipients and nominees include people (This is just an indicative list) like
